Team Reflection - Community International Virtual Team Activity

Over the past few weeks, our Community International team
has been road‑testing the Unstoppable Retail micro‑strategies — one card at a time — to help us steady ourselves, think deliberately, and “ride the wave” in pressured conversations.
Because we don’t work in a physical store environment, we adapted the activity to fit our virtual setting. Instead of gathering around a table of cards, we ran our own digital version:
✅ Each person selected a new strategy card daily✅ We added stars when the strategy genuinely helped✅ We reflected together on what shifted in real customer or partner moments
To bring it all together, our team created a poll and voted on the strategy cards that had the most impact across the past weeks.
✅ Our Top 3 Most Impactful Micro‑Strategies
From our poll results, the most‑used and most‑valued strategies were:
⭐ 1. Don’t Grab the Old Map
When your brain says “I’ve seen this before”, ask:“WHAT’S DIFFERENT THIS TIME?”
⭐ 2. Clarify Before You Fix
When your brain says “Fix it”, ask:“WHAT PROBLEM AM I REALLY SOLVING?”
⭐ 3. See the Whole Picture
When your brain says “I’ve got this”, ask:“WHAT ELSE IS IN PLAY HERE?”
These three strategies consistently helped us interrupt autopilot thinking, avoid premature assumptions, and create deeper clarity in customer and internal conversations.

✅ How We Reflected as a Virtual Team
We used Microsoft Teams Whiteboard to collaborate live — sharing our experiences, insights, and real customer examples. Everyone contributed directly on sticky notes, building a collective “What’s Working Wall” that mirrored the in‑store experience but through a digital lens.
The whiteboard filled quickly with stories, reflections, and practical examples of how each strategy shifted a moment for the better — a great reminder that thinking differently doesn’t require a physical room; it requires intention.
✅ WHAT WORKED
✨ Slowing down to question our first interpretation. Instead of jumping into “I know what this is,” we paused and checked for context, differences, hidden factors, or missing information.
✨ Asking better questions before acting. The moment we clarified the real problem — not just the loudest or most urgent symptom — our responses became more precise and more helpful.
✨ Spotting new possibilities in moments that looked familiar. When we challenged the assumption “I’ve seen this before,” we uncovered fresh angles that changed how we handled the situation.
✨ Sharing reflections together. Hearing how others applied the same strategies in different ways helped the team strengthen capability through real examples, not theory.
✅ WHY IT MATTERED
⭐ These strategies protected us from autopilot thinking, which is especially common in fast‑paced rate review and international peak season. By widening our view for even a few seconds, we solved problems more accurately and prevented unnecessary back‑and‑forth.
⭐ Our customer and partner conversations improved. Teams shared tangible examples where a small shift in thinking changed the tone, direction, or outcome of a pressured interaction.
⭐ We built stronger consistency as a team. Even though we work remotely, the shared tools gave us a common language and approach — enabling us to “ride the wave” together even when physically apart.
⭐ We avoided rework and missteps. Clarifying before acting helped us respond to the right thing the first time, saving time and reducing friction.
✅ WHAT WE LEARNED
💡 The brain defaults to speed under pressure — but speed isn’t always clarity. Pausing to check what else might be going on almost always reveals something important.
💡 Familiar problems are often not the same as last time. Asking “What’s different this time?” helped us adapt our approach to the present moment, not the last one.
💡 Accurate understanding leads to better customer outcomes. When we understood the real issue before solving, conversations became smoother and more constructive.
💡 Virtual teams can create just as much connection, reflection, and shared learning as physical teams — with the right tools and intention.
🌊 In short: It’s all about riding the wave, not reacting to it.
These strategies helped our virtual team stay steady, think deliberately, and show up with clarity in moments that could have easily become chaotic.👍

Whoah!! That poll that you created was incredible. It is terrific to see how you are exploring the micro-strategies far and wide, not just finding a couple you like and sticking with them. So cool to see how you and the International Team have engaged with this and adapted the approach to suit the virtual way you work. Your online session shows that you don't have to be in the same room to explore and think together. Awesome job @Vivien Yang and the International Team.
