Is that problem worth solving?

A little while ago I decided to change a very small part of our house, turning a tiny tiled patio into a much nicer garden. It was only a small change so I thought it would be quick and easy. Sometimes our expectations turn out to be wrong. In this case, it happened the patio wasn’t just made of tiles. The first layer was tiles, then there was concrete with cyclone fencing used as reinforcement. And then, there was a layer of bluestone blocks. Sometimes I think it's easy to give up on making a change that needs to happen because you discover it's too hard. Alternatively, we can keep going, even though it’s really not worth the effort. I guess the key thing is to ask ourselves, is this problem still worth it? And, if we don’t do this, what’s the alternative? I'd love to hear about your experiences. What do you do when you encounter a problem that is bigger than you expected?
