Communication is a critical element of leadership as it enables teams to think and work together.
I came across this sign on my walk the other day. I stopped and looked at it for a couple of seconds trying to understand what it meant. Frankly, I still don’t know what it is saying. I get the ‘leased’ message, but what I don’t get is what Ireland has to do with it when I am in Australia.
𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? 🤔
Sometimes, when we're trying to get a message across we try to be too clever. In doing so, our message can be lost in translation.
In fairness, I did stop, take a photo and do this post on LinkedIn. The sign did get my attention so maybe it did the job it was supposed to. It comes down to what message you are trying to convey and who your audience is. Will they “get it”?
What do you think? Have you ever had a message that was lost in translation?
